Getting a Library Card

Children in grades K through 6:  

To get a library card for children in grades K through 6, a parent or legal guardian must come to the Library with the child and show a photo ID (driver's license, state ID, or passport) and proof of residence in Lawrence (a recent  piece of mail, pay stub, or rent receipt)

 

Children in Grades 7 through 12:  

 Students in grades 7 through 12 may show their photo ID (school photo ID, driver's license, or Passport) and proof of residence in Lawrence( a recent piece of mail or school document such as a report card or class schedule with the current address on it) in order to get a library card. Those students without photo ID may come to the Library with their parent or guardian who must show his/her ID and proof of residence in Lawrence in order to get a card for the child.

 

Adults living in Lawrence:   

Lawrence residents must show a Photo ID (driver's license, state ID, or passport) and proof of residence in Lawrence (a recent piece of mail, pay stub, or rent receipt) in order to get a library card.

Other Merrimack Valley residents:  

Residents of other towns which are part of the Merrimack Valley Library Consortium (MVLC) must get a card from their hometown library and may then use it at the Lawrence Public Library.

 

All other Massachusetts residents:  

All other Massachusetts residents may be registered in Lawrence as an MVLC patron by showing a photo ID, a document showing their recent address, and their library card from their hometown library.

 

Out of State residents:  

Residents from other states who show a photo ID and a recent document with their current address may purchase a library card  for $75.00 for use throughout MVLC.
